Home again, home again

The trip back to Norfolk took about 8 hours, the longest leg of this first adventure. Unlike most of the trip so far, this one was almost entirely along interstate roads, and while traffic wasn't bad, it was the traffic one would expect before a major holiday weekend (Labor Day coming up). We were hungry when we got back home, so we stopped at a local restaurant we hadn't tried before.

This is the view from Stony's Dockside Bar and Grill and is right in our backyard. The food was great, the view was relaxing and it was the perfect end to the day. Give it a try if you are in the area.
So what did we learn this trip? That Penny has more storage space than we thought and certainly adequate for the trips we have planned. That driving Penny is fun! (Bob knew that but I was unsure.) That we have to allow time everywhere for people to remark on her beauty and ask lots of questions. That Bob and I can travel in close quarters and not kill each other. To begin to slow things down and look around more. To try to find more back roads. To share meals when ordering out (way too much food in restaurants).
The next trip in 2 weeks will be longer, about 2,700 miles. We will be going to Radford to visit our granddaughter Morgan, to North Carolina to drive the Tail of the Dragon and sleep in a treehouse, to Kentucky for Bob to drive on a racetrack and visit the Corvette Museum, to Memphis to visit Jessica and Ben, to Birmingham to visit my sister Lynn, Uncle Tom and their family, to Disney World and a short visit with old friends Tim and Cindy, and to Charleston SC before returning home in October. Hoping for smooth rides and fair weather, but isn't it the unexpected challenges that make travel fun? Stay tuned.
